Deadman Tell No Tales

Updated: Oct 9

So why not be the story while we are alive. I was born In Denver, Colorado raised in North Denver. A client asked me why I started writing and it's really rooted from my childhood. I was always an introvert, I didn't fit in and never went with the crowd. I read a ton of books for fun and I get bored very easily. I observe everything and have to always stay busy.

I was supposed to skip the fifth grade but my parents thought it was more convenient to keep me with the kids my age. I received an award from the president for academic excellence; 1 of 1, not many childhood pictures but I still have that award. I still sometimes think how my life would of played out if I skipped that grade.

My life changed quickly the following year. Parents were divorced, the neighborhood was a landmine. I had a four year run of trouble as a teenager, never to glorify but to learn and grow. Just a huge mountain I created in my own mind to excuse my childish behavior. At age 16 my grandmother passed away, Life changing, family been off since. Those closest to me know what I mean. I made her a promise I would never stop trying. I navigated a ugly couple years, created problems that needed nothing more than a conversation to resolve. The losses inspired me in ways no one understands. Months of solitude taught me a mental toughness that can never be broken.

My Cousin Eric Dinkel invited me to speak at Range View High School last year. He didnt know at the time but he gets a ton of the blame. I was shocked about the ease of how it went and remembered how fragile I was at that age. The world can be an intimidating place if you let it get the best of you. To learn to be vulnerable in a tough environment is a true learning process. I could of made so many better choices but I walk my path slowly with a smile and red bull.

The last 20 years has been a brutal grind, day job to night school, airports with my computer, long lonely nights away from the family. I worked 4 jobs at one point. I took 6 days off in 12 years. I worked on every family vacation. We lost precious irreplaceable people, our niece Emriel was an angel. I truly love what I do and it never feels like work, I do it for my family. My dad taught me work ethic and how to have faith. My mom taught me this craft that I love to do so much. Anthony taught me how to perfect my craft, Candace taught me to be vulnerable and who cares what people think. Amber taught me to let bad things go and keep moving. Gabe taught me patience.

Erika we built a life worth a million pictures and we have the honor of raising a king. I prayed for these opportunities and I will make the best of them all. I promise to learn from every mistake, mentor and associate I have the chance to work with. Now It's about the next generation.

Becoming a father has sparked a creativity that I cant keep contained. Seeing my son Xzander grow and laugh and learn, the inspiration comes easy. To answer my client, I write to leave a legacy to my son, inspire and educate others to be different. Stand out from a world full of masks and be myself. God gave us all talents and what a waste of a day if we don't use it.

May you all find the content useful, please like it, share it, laugh at it..... Don't matter as long as you read it; I know in time it will inspire you to be better or thank somebody that helped you along the way.
